Qualifying classes for the acclaimed Dodson & Horrell British Novice Championship, sponsored by the leading equine feed manufacturer, are held at Novice Regional Finals all over the country starting with Keysoe, Bedfordshire, at the beginning of May. Both professional riders on young horses making their way up the ranks and ambitious non-professional’s will be out in force to try and qualify for the prestigious final that takes place at the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing held at Gatcombe Park, 3-5 August 2018.
The top 25% of eligible starters at each Regional Final will go through to the Championship where the winner is crowned the coveted Dodson & Horrell British Novice Champion.
Previous winners of this illustrious title include four star event horse Cool Mountain ridden by William Fox-Pitt and winner of a trio of three star events, Seigneur Medicott, ridden by Bettina Hoy (GER). This Championship is ridden at Intermediate level (a step up from the qualifying height that is at Novice level) and is a real stepping stone for horses aiming for the top of the sport.
“The Festival has a very special feel and we love being part of it. Supporting young performance horses on their way up the eventing ladder and seeing where they get to in the future is fantastic and we relish being part of their journey,” commented Gemma Schwarz Head of Marketing at Dodson & Horrell.
