The latest addition to the 2019 Dodson & Horrell Masterclass series saw Brand Ambassadors and top Team GBR event riders Harry Meade and Laura Collett host an exclusive training evening, compèred by Spencer Sturmey, at Glenda Spooner Farm, a World Horse Welfare Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Somerset, a donation will be made to the charity.
The two 45 minute demonstrations covered an array of training tips and techniques which included gymnastic jumping exercises and simulated cross country riding all with a focus on the rider’s position and balance, giving the audience an abundance of training methods to try at home.
Laura rode two horses from her string; Calmaro, who finished second in the CIC Young Horse 2* at the Young Horse Championships in 2018 and the six year old mare Laola. Harry rode two geldings; Merrywell Tradition and Mosstown Prince, who is entered in the CCI-S4*8/9YO class at SsangYong Blenheim Palace Horse Trials next week. The attendees were given the chance to watch the experts work up close and had the opportunity to ask questions, meet and greet the riders and take home a goody bag and a free 3kg bag of feed from the Performance Range.
For those who were unable to attend the evening, the two demonstrations and Q&A session can be watched on the Dodson & Horrell YouTube channel using the following links:
