Our commitment to Quality

The first commitment of the Dodson & Horrell team is to our customers to produce consistent high quality and safe nutrition products for their horses and other animals in their care.

We commit to producing accurately made products that operate within the feed regulatory frameworks of the markets we serve, in the most sustainable way.

To demonstrate this we operate detailed Quality Assurance programs backed up by in-depth quality controls.  Our quality activities are independently verified by recognised quality assurance schemes. We work closely with our suppliers to understand the quality of their operations, potential risks associated with them.

For horses competing under the rules of racing and competition, we risk assess all our materials and their supply chains for the risk of specified naturally occurring prohibited substances in line with BETA NOPS® guidelines. We also operate a positive release system for all our racing feeds, meaning that we test a sample of each batch to confirm the absence of a suite of naturally occurring prohibited substances for NOPS® prior to shipping.  Adherence to these guidelines ensures that the risk of occurrence of such substances is minimised.

To ensure we meet these standards we employ a highly trained multi-functional team, who we further support with detailed ongoing training.   This includes attendance at relevant conferences and seminars to ensure we keep our quality and technical thinking up to date.

Certifications and Trade Assurance Scheme Memberships

· Universal Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS) – includes Transport (certificates included in pack)

· British Equestrian Trade association (BETA) Membership and BETA NOPS® certification (certificates included in pack)

· Site Registrations required by GN+B retained regulation on  Feed Hygiene (no. 183/2005)

· Waste packaging compliance with Valpak

Dodson & Horrell Ltd (D&H) and HJ Lea Oakes Ltd manufacture and supply a wide range of animal feeds which have different legislative and assurance scheme requirements. To meet requirements for UK and EU legislation and trade assurance schemes, risk assessments are carried out on all suppliers considering factors such as accreditation, history of supply & type of raw material.

As a customer you may have sent a Supplier Questionnaire in for completion, called to request details or looked on the website to find this information. To provide a consistent and hopefully informative summary, especially with regards to NOPS, this pack has been put together to answer most questions received.
