We’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible journey of Dodson & Horrell-supported rider Lauren and her wonderful New Forest mare, Trenley Trinket – fondly known as “Tilly” – as they make their way to the London International Horse Show next week! Qualifying for London is a dream for many, and for Tilly to be the only New Forest breed representative this year makes it an even more exceptional achievement.
Lauren shared her excitement: “For me, London is the most special show of the year, given the prestige of taking one of only 30 Mountain and Moorland qualifying places across all of the breeds. Made even more exciting this year with Tilly being the only New Forest pony qualified, and also the first time I have qualified and competed one of my own ponies at London International Horse Show. Being so close to Christmas it is always an exciting time of year, and what better way to spend it than at London!”
Their partnership is still new as Lauren and Tilly began their journey together in May – but they’ve quickly risen to show-stopping success. Their first season together has been nothing short of spectacular, with a supreme championship on their debut outing, championship wins at NCPA Stafford, and recognition as the highest-placed mare at the New Forest Breed Show. They went on to place fifth at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show, and now Tilly has secured her place at London after winning the direct breed qualifier at the BSPS Heritage Championships.
Tilly’s preparation for London has involved arena eventing and hacking – a true testament to the versatility of native breeds. Bred and raised in the New Forest, Tilly embodies her heritage and follows in the hoofprints of her grandmother, T’acre Kiss Me Kate, who competed at the very same show in 1987.
Described by Lauren as “the ultimate diva” with the perfect mix of trainability and spirit, Tilly is a credit to the New Forest breed and her breeders. From all of us at Dodson & Horrell, congratulations to Lauren and Tilly on this incredible season, and best of luck at the London International Horse Show!
