Forage Analysis

Forage should ideally form the bulk of your horse’s diet and since each forage harvest is different, knowing the nutritional quality of your hay, haylage or grass can be very useful in making sure that your horse's diet is healthy and balanced.

OUR SERVICES
Dodson & Horrell offers a range of Forage Analysis Services that are carried out in our on-site Laboratory or in External Laboratories, depending on which service you require. 

Once you have sent us your forage sample, you will then receive a forage report which will include a nutritional analysis of your forage. We encourage you to discuss these results with our nutritional helpline team who will help you to build a tailored feeding plan for your horse.

GENERAL ONE WEEK SERVICE

Our economical all-rounder forage analysis package analyses your hay, haylage, straw or grass to determine its general nutrient value.

Analytes tested for: Dry Matter, Crude Protein, Ash, Sugar, Neutral Detergent Fibre, Digestible Energy (pH for Haylage only).

BASIC MINERAL ANALYSIS

This service tests your hay, haylage, straw or grass to determine the vital minerals in your forage.

Analytes tested for: Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorous, Potassium, Sodium and Zinc.

Ideal if your forage is showing signs of mouldy spores or has been exposed to damp conditions, this service analyses your hay, haylage or straw to determine its hygienic quality.
